An excellent story on loss, healing and the courage of living life again. The book takes place in a cozy small town where everyone knows you. It is a book about friendship, family and normal good people. Mostly it is about the power of relationships.The dialogue is fantastic. It's hard to believe this is the author's first book. You really can picture the scenes and the personality of the characters. It is an excellent picture of what small town America is like.
I highly recommend the story. It's an easy reading novel. Looking forward to her next book!

The writing is amazing and the characters are so relatable. I wish I lived in a town like Oak Bend.
I have listened to the author of her processing her book and the love that went into writing this book. I am excited for Julie as a author and look forward to reading her fabulous book.
Most everyone has had lost someone close to them and can relate to Sarah's grief. As I was reading the story of Sarah's life in the small town of Oak Bend who believes in the quotes of Henry Thoreau I wanted to be one of her friends. To celebrate and cry with her. The writing is engaging, refreshing, and doesn't drag. It is evident that This first time author has poured her heart and soul into each character with thought to the reader.
It is a heartwarming story about family and friends. The book hits upon grief, love, second chances, and new beginnings. At the end of the story you are left with a feeling of happiness, and closure for the characters. I would definitely recommend this to everyone.
my enjoyment of reading was not disappointed with this first novel of Julie Minten. Very seldom have I been this excited about a first author and do recommend this to anyone who enjoys a book so very descriptive and the character relationships so well developed. I am anxiously awaiting her second novel.
What a beautiful story about friendship, love, healing and community with a cast of strong female characters! Julie Minten's novel was such a pleasure to read. I completely got lost in Oak Bend. I was hooked immediately into the setting, Oakbend. I fell in love with each of the characters and could picture the whole setting in my mind. I can't imagine anyone not connecting to at least one character and the experiences their life encountered. It definitely reminded me of the qualities in life that are important....forgiveness, kindness and living each day to the fullest. Hoping to read more by Julie Minten!
